Help for Alternative Desktop Systems

Get Firefox

The easiest way to make sure you see my website the way it is intended for alternative platforms is to use Firefox. Firefox is also available for BeOS, OS/2, and RISC OS.

BeOS Specific

BeOS has available DjVu Viewer which should be able to view my optimized DjVu versions of popular texts (this is where it says Java is required - just click on the link to the file below the Java applet warning). BeOS has Abiword available which should be able to open up the RTF versions of important texts. BePDF should be able to view PDF versions of important texts. Don't forget to get Firefox. BeOS Downloads

OS/2 Specific

OS/2 should be able to view the optimized DjVu versions of important texts through the Java Runtime Environment. OS/2 has a recent enough version of OpenOffice.org to open OpenDocument version as well as the RTF versions of important texts (RTF versions can also be opened with Lotus Smartsuite). OS/2 has Adobe Reader 5 which should be able to view PDFs of important texts. Don't forget to get Firefox. OS/2 Downloads

RISC OS Specific

Gview should work to see PDF versions of important texts. Don't forget to get Firefox. RISC OS Downloads

Others

For AmigaOS the only one I heard of and can test for is Amaya.

Inferno/Plan 9 doesn't seem to have any web browsers that I can find.
