Help for Mac OS X by Version

Last Updated: Friday, 09-Jan-2015 12:32:38 PST

Mac OS X - All Supported Versions

Preview, the version that comes with OS X 10.4 or higher (released April 2005), should be able to open my PDFs. Quicktime 7, which comes with OS X 10.3.9 or higher (released April 2005), should work for the Apple/iPod/iTunes formats of video and audio as well as MP3.

Upgrade to the free Safari 5.1 for Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (released July 2011), or if you are using Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or lower, you need to upgrade to a newer version of Mac OS X or buy a new Mac or iPad.

This version of Safari will also work great on any site designed for multiple browsers which is 99% of websites.

If you have bought any Mac made, in August 2009 or later, or bought any Mac made in August 2006 or later and upgraded it to Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (released in August 2009) or higher, you will be able to see this site fully, with only free updates applied. Mac OS X 10.6 supports all Intel Macs with 1 GB RAM or more.

Mac OS X 10.6 Users

For Mac OS X 10.6 (released in August 2009) or higher, you can download Safari 5.1 (released July 2011). First, you must update to the latest free updates.

Safari 4 comes with Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard (released in June 2009).

To apply the updates, first, click on the desktop to get the Finder menus. Then click on Software Update from the Apple menu in the top left corner of your screen under Finder. It is totally free.

Mac OS X 10.7 - 10.9 Users

For Mac OS X 10.7 Lion (released in July 2011) or higher, you have everything you need, to see this website, at its best, without any further installs or upgrades. Mac OS X 10.7 Lion comes with Safari 5.1, 10.8 Mountain Lion comes with Safari 6, and 10.9 Mavericks comes with Safari 7.

Safari 5.1 (released in July 2011) and Apple portable devices (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Mini) with the included iOS 5 (also released in October 20011), with the new unified theme, will now work fine, with almost everything on my main/pro website (for the iPad version on the iPad 1, with the free upgrades applied).
