New Direction

I am officially announcing my websites are finished and I don’t plan on adding more content to them. This applies to all 3 of my current websites: benjamin-newton.com, cloudy.diamonds, and ben-new.faith.

I am not running out of ideas, but I am getting older and less able to do things in such detail. I want to do other things in my life and I think finishing work on my websites will allow me the time and energy to explore other interests.

Web Design is Harder

Websites are getting very difficult to do by just one person. At the same time, websites are also becoming mostly irrelevant due to generative AI (based on LLMs and machine learning). People are already skipping going to websites and getting the answer directly in their app or search engine.

Laws are constantly changing that will have far reaching effects on what content is possible to put online. The requirements for how web design must be done legally are rapidly changing as well.

There already is little interest left in web design now, as it is now easy to make a low quality brochure website. Also, just using social media likely gets your creations better exposure. The tools I use are becoming less and less compatible with newer systems and devices, as they gain increased security features.

Future Plans

I plan on leaving the websites as close to this design as possible and leaving all the website content as is for the foreseeable future. With political, cultural, economic, and technological conditions changing so fast (for instance, I believe we are moving rapidly into extreme fascism in America), I cannot guarantee things will stay online for any length of time.

If all goes well, I will likely keep things online for 3-5 years more. If I make it 3 more years, that will make it 30 years online in all. If you are at all interested, download now while things are still available.

Today was the final straw, where I would fix one formatting error and 3 more errors would be produced as a result. The technology to do it yourself without any external code is rapidly becoming next to impossible.
